10 DAYS LEFT

Wow .. turns out starting your own blog is more challenging than I thought. I literally spent the past week brainstorming titles and got nowhere on my own. Thank you Zach for providing the title of my travel blog, and thank you friends for giving me a lot to laugh about by filling my text message inbox with suggestions like "Thai Mai Shu"  "Miso Happy to Travel" and "Pork Fried ME".....

Loy Krathong!! [Festival of Lights]
OKAY .. so. 10 DAYS LEFT until I leave for Thailand! For those of you who don't know, I will be traveling to Thailand to live, volunteer, teach, grow and explore for (hopefully) a little over a year. I will begin my journey with my friend Lily, and we will be working on a farm in Chiang Mai called the Sangob Foundation. The farm promotes self sustainability and works to teach remote rural areas of Northern Thailand to build community Thai Food Forests. The director recently sent us an email to let us know that during our stay we will be doing quite a bit of planting, growing, composting, bamboo building and roof building on site. We were also informed that during the second week of November we will be starting a Permaculture Impact project in a Karen village about 5 hours away from the farm. Anndd last but definitely not least they told us that we will be there for "Loy Krathong" aka the festival of lights, and that the farm has been invited to a public fair called Access to Justice where we will have the ability to talk about our work and network with NGOs. I'm SO excited!!!

But honestly, even though it's totally cool, I really can't believe I only have 10 days left. This trip has been a looong time coming, and now that it's down to the wire I am feeling a bit emotional. None of this would have been possible if it weren't for my friends and amazing family. Your endless support and encouragement means the world to me and I'm going to miss you guys!! I feel so lucky to be on the brink of such an amazing adventure and I can't wait to share my thoughts, stories and struggles along the way.    ..And I think an extra giant shout out to Momma & Poppa B is in order .. thanks for not only refraining from bolting me in the basement upon seeing the 48 page booklet of deadly diseases I may contract, but also for doing everything in your power to make this goal & dream a reality for me. LOVE YOU.

Alright, I guess that is all for now...I need to get back to figuring out how I will be stuffing my whole life into a 70 liter travelers backpack...

Until next time,
